About Us

Following 16 years employment in the Australian racing industry in senior administrative positions with the Melbourne Racing Club, Victoria Racing Club, Racing Victoria Limited and the Western Australian Turf Club, Rodney Rae established the Thoroughbred Racing Bureau Pty Ltd in March 2000.

The initial role of the company was to provide consulting services to the international thoroughbred horse racing industry in the areas of racing administration, marketing, business planning and racecourse design.  The company has undertaken work for a number of domestic and international clients operating varying businesses within the global racing industry.

Since 2008 the Thoroughbred Racing Bureau has changed its commercial direction focusing on developing its breeding operations to service the significant demand for Australian bred bloodstock.

In 2008, the company purchased Testafiable, the Group One winning son of Testa Rossa and he commenced his stud duties in the same year at Manner Lodge standing at a service fee of $6,600 (GST inclusive).  In 2009, Wyndholm Park acquired a shareholding in Testafiable and accordingly the stallion was relocated to that farm for the 2009 breeding season.

In 2009, the Thoroughbred Racing Bureau, in conjunction with the UK based Mickley Stud, purchased the multiple stakes winner Captain Gerrard (IRE), a son of the European champion sire Oasis Dream (GB).  He commenced his stud duties in 2010, shuttling between Mickley Stud and Lindsay Park Stud at Angaston in South Australia standing at a service fee of $8,800 (GST inclusive). Captain Gerrard (IRE) has been relocated to Wyndholm Park for the 2011 Southern Hemisphere breeding season at a service fee of $8,800 (GST inclusive)

Over the past 12 months the Thoroughbred Racing Bureau has continued to develop its stallion and broodmare portfolio as the company makes the transition to a commercially integrated breeding and racing operation producing quality bloodstock for the domestic and international thoroughbred markets.

This is an exciting new direction for the company and Thoroughbred Racing Bureau Principal, Rodney Rae, has developed a clear vision for the business:-

“Our hearts are with every segment of the industry and our objective is to produce quality thoroughbreds that perform on the racetrack, we are determined to achieve success and make a valuable contribution to the Australian racing industry”
